South St Anthony Park

South St. Anthony Park, where we’ve lived since 1994, offers everything we love about city living: unique shops and restaurants; a big park and easy access to both downtowns. Enter two kids, suddenly our tiny bungalow left us looking for more space in the neighborhood. The solution: Divide our lot and build next door. In 2007 we hired a design/ build firm called Quartersawn that understood how to blend modern construction into established neighborhoods. The home they created is warm and modern, making liberal use of wood milled by our Amish friends, including hickory floors, douglas fir walls and maple trim. A “floating” staircase is the centerpiece. Environmentally friendly upgrades include in-floor heating and a metal roof. The low-maintenance landscaping by TerraVista features bluestone pavers and native grasses.
