Minneapolis & Saint Paul Home Tour ’08 “A Rousing Success,” 2009 dates April 25 & 26

Close to 4,000 visitors brought their lists of remodeling questions and their curiosity about neighborhoods to an average of 6.6 homes apiece during the 21st Minneapolis & Saint Paul Home Tour on the last weekend in April, for a total of about 26,000 visits across the 50 locations. Thank you to all for a successful tour, which NRP Director Bob Miller labeled “a rousing success.” NRP, the Minneapolis Neighborhood Revitalization Program, coordinates the tour.

Feature your neighborhood
A significant number of 2008 home tour visitors surveyed said they were interested in looking for homes in Minneapolis or Saint Paul. While the tour is focused on remodeling, these visitors ask questions about neighborhoods they’re curious about. Combine that with the price of gas, and you see why clusters of homes attract a lot of attention. Neighborhoods with three or more locations receive additional promotion in the Home Tour Guide. Neighborhood leaders and homeowners can call today for more details, 612-673-5103 or 612-673-5140.

Eco-Tour:
If you have used “green” thinking in planning and executing your remodel, your home or project can be considered for the “Eco-Tour,” an environmentally friendly designation. In 2008, the top-drawing homes were all on the Eco-Tour.

Historic Preservation & Neighborhood History:
Every year, many of the homeowners featured on the tour have taken particular care to preserve, restore, and expand their homes in keeping with the style of the era when they were built. The tour has also included various historic locations iconic in their respective cities.

Special Spaces:
Kitchens, baths, whole-house renovations and additions will always be popular. The Minneapolis & Saint Paul Home Tour also welcomes the unusual and cutting edge; for example: – Basements and third floors remodeled into wonderful living spaces – Home office ideas, unusual garages and carriage houses – Artists’ live/work/gallery spaces
