Built 1953
In 2014, the owners moved into this mid-century modern jewel designed by local architect, Saul Smiley—the same architect who designed the Minneapolis VA Hospital and Hennepin County Medical Center. Although the homeowners loved their new home, they were less than enthused with the kitchen, which appeared to have been pieced together in the early 90s. They instead wanted something modern and classic that would also seamlessly integrate with the open sightlines of the home's mid-century aesthetic. The result is a streamlined galley kitchen that incorporates modern appliances, unique storage solutions, Cambria quartz countertops, and a handmade ceramic tile backsplash from Mercury Mosaics.
