Highland Park

1950 rambler
Michael Dorner
When I purchased my home in 2006, a friend suggested I open the wall between the kitchen and the living room. I finally acted on that idea in December 2019 opening the two rooms as well as putting in a south-facing window. The kitchen remains the same size but now has exposure to the north, east, and south instead of only to the east. The kitchen and bathroom were previously remodeled in the 1980s. This project updated their looks and usefulness with some clever space efficiencies in the new cabinetry. The house is small but now feels larger than it was. A 1950 rambler, it is located in a great neighborhood and even has some of its original blond woodwork.
