Our classic Saint Paul bungalow home was well used for families with children, but we needed more in the way of “public” spaces, home offices and storage. We bought it for its “charm,” potential, neighbors, neighborhood … and its wonderful second-floor house-sized room. We finished the upper and lower levels and have a bath on each floor and less steep staircases, anticipating future abilities. We moved walls, creating new living flows and a kitchen that is effective for cooking and talking, as well as eating. Friends have commented that our color choices inspire them to think more creatively. Our technically knowledgeable, skilled and artistic architect and designer joined with excellent remodelers to co-create with and for us, reshaping and updating, while maintaining the home’s classic presence.
