We’ve loved living by Lake Nokomis, being in Minneapolis, and (surprisingly) being near the airport. But there were aspects of the house that didn’t work. We wanted to better use the space of prior additions and to make the house feel like it all goes together. We no longer have “tacked-on-additions” with different sidings, too many, too small rooms, or a second floor nearly forgotten behind a door. The result has delighted us, from a large, beautiful kitchen, to a new butler’s pantry, to larger bedrooms including a light-filled master suite. Our contractor did the shell and exterior for us, and we did all of the finish work. It shows what passionate, reasonably handy homeowners can accomplish, but we wouldn’t recommend it for everyone.
