The main level renovation of this house is all about connection. The existing kitchen in this four-square Dutch Colonial was cramped, dated and located at the back of the plan without much connection to the dining room or views to the creek beyond. The original arrangement also lacked a mudroom and a main level bathroom.
By opening up the plan, renovating the kitchen and adding an additional 8’ off the back of the house, the spaces of the home are now connected in a loop of circulation. The kitchen stands at the center of the action, with access and views to both front and back yards. And a new eating nook, powder room, and hardworking mudroom fill out the addition and complete the connection to the rest of the floor plan.
