Linden Hills

The goals of remodeling this 103-year-old home in Linden Hills were to update the kitchen and to make the entire lower level family-friendly by adding a bathroom, laundry/mud room, and rumpus room, while maintaining the house’s turn-of-the-last-century charm and being as 21st century “green” as possible. “Green” elements include using recycled glass countertops and bath tiles, Marmoleum flooring, urea-formaldehyde-free cabinets, reclaimed wood interior doors, and energy and water efficient appliances and fixtures. A large screened porch echoes the hip roof of the original garage. And the removal of a false wall in the living room revealed an oak inglenook and elaborate brick fireplace with a double mantel!
