3338 Taylor St. NE
North, East of the Mississippi
Beth Gotting

This home started out, as many Northeast homes do, with two small bedrooms, kitchen and bath on the main floor, and sleeping space upstairs. I have always loved the neighborhood and saw potential in the small house. A compact and distinctive lantern-like addition to the rear of the house allowed for a new kitchen and spacious bathroom, making the small house feel spacious, filled with day light, and opened visually and functionally to the generous deck on which I entertain throughout the warmer months. By strategically removing or altering existing walls (which could be put back if needed), one of the main level bedrooms became a dining room and the other an extension of the living room.
